Muhammad Sarim Khan

Full-Stack Software Engineer

I design and build complete web and mobile products: the interface people use, the APIs and data models behind it, and the cloud setup that keeps it running.

Next.js and React Native on the front, NestJS and PostgreSQL behind it, deployed on AWS and GCP. Payments, real-time features and OpenAI-backed workflows where the product needs them.

01About

Engineering the whole product, not one layer of it.

Most of my work starts before any code: understanding what the business needs, mapping the data, and deciding where the boundaries between services should sit. From there I build the API, the database schema and the interface together, so each layer is shaped by the others instead of bolted on afterwards.

I care about the parts users never see as much as the parts they do: authorization rules that hold up, background jobs that retry safely, queries that stay fast as tables grow, and deployments that can be repeated without anyone holding their breath.

How I work

  • Own a feature from the ticket to production, including the follow-up fixes.
  • Keep code readable for the next engineer: clear modules, typed contracts, small surfaces.
  • Work closely with designers and backend teams rather than handing work over a wall.

Where I contribute

  1. 01

    Planning & architecture

Breaking requirements into modules, defining service boundaries and choosing the right storage for each job.

  2. 02

    Frontend

Responsive Next.js and React Native interfaces with typed state, accessible components and fast first loads.

  3. 03

    Backend

NestJS and Express APIs with role-based access, validation, real-time channels and queued background work.

  4. 04

    Data

Relational schemas in PostgreSQL, document models in MongoDB, Redis for caching and short-lived state.

  5. 05

    Integrations

Stripe payments and subscriptions, OpenAI features and third-party APIs wired in with proper error handling.

  6. 06

    Delivery

Docker builds, CI/CD pipelines, cloud storage and server configuration on AWS and GCP, then iterating on real usage.

02Selected work

Products I've helped build and ship.

Four in depth, followed by a shorter index. Each covers what the product does, the problem behind it and the engineering that holds it together.

01 / Enterprise platformpdmic.texvnx.com

An enterprise platform that brings strategic planning, project development, monitoring and implementation for multiple departments into a single system.

The problem

Planning, budgets, approvals and files were spread across departments and tools, so nobody had one reliable view of where a project stood or what it had cost. PDMIC replaces that with one source of truth that every department works in.

Key functionality

  • Architecture and infrastructure planning
  • Financial controls and budget tracking
  • Reporting dashboards for leadership
  • CRM workflows across departments
  • Digital file management
  • Operational and implementation monitoring

Engineering highlights

  • One relational data model behind planning, finance, CRM and documents
  • NestJS service layer exposing each functional area to the client
  • Installable progressive web app for day-to-day use

My role

  • Full-stack feature work across the React client and the NestJS API
  • PostgreSQL data modelling for records shared between departments
  • Cross-department workflows from planning through implementation
02 / Construction technologymodworks.pro

A platform for modular construction that follows every building module from the factory floor through transport, storage and installation.

The problem

A module passes through manufacturers, logistics companies and site crews, and its history usually gets lost at each handoff. ModWorks keeps one connected record per module, so the next team sees the checks, photos and responsibilities that came before.

Key functionality

  • Per-module record with stage, owner and evidence
  • Shared task queue with claimed ownership
  • Pickup readiness kept distinct from confirmed departure
  • Last reported tracker location with timestamps
  • Company-level access across project partners
  • Web workspace plus an Android field app

Engineering highlights

  • Configurable workflows and registers per project
  • Evidence (photos, checklists, notes) attached to the task it proves
  • Multi-company permission model across one shared project

My role

  • Full-stack feature development on the platform
03 / Travel · AIitertravel.app

Iter is an AI-assisted travel planner for people who care about culture, design and how a trip feels, not just how many sights it fits in.

The problem

Generic itinerary generators optimise for coverage and produce the same trip for everyone. Iter plans around a traveller's interests, pace and style, and combines what AI knows with perspectives from locals and travellers whose experience is relevant.

Key functionality

  • Plans shaped by interests, pace and travel style
  • AI knowledge combined with human recommendations
  • Trip planning on mobile, published to the app stores

Engineering highlights

  • Personalisation profile drives every suggestion
  • AI output blended with curated human input

My role

  • Full-stack feature development on the product
04 / Marketplace · BookingsAcademic · 2024

A full-stack venue-booking marketplace where vendors list wedding halls and couples find, book and pay for one online, with live chat when they need a person.

The problem

Booking a wedding hall usually means phone calls, site visits and cash deposits, with no easy way to compare venues or know which dates are actually free. The Wedding Spot puts listings, availability, booking and payment in one place, and gives each side of the deal its own view of it.

Key functionality

  • Three roles with their own dashboards: Buyer, Vendor and Admin
  • Vendors list and manage their wedding halls
  • Buyers browse halls, book a date and pay online through Stripe
  • Tawk.to live chat for questions before and after booking
  • Admin tools to manage users, bookings and listings

Engineering highlights

  • Role-based access separating buyer, vendor and admin actions
  • Each Stripe payment is tied to the booking it pays for
  • React and Material UI interface shared by all three roles

My role

  • Full-stack feature work across the React client and the NestJS API
  • Data modelling for users, venues and bookings in MongoDB
  • Stripe payment flow and Tawk.to chat integration

03Expertise

Complete systems, from the screen to the server.

Grouped by the part of the system it belongs to, because the useful question is rarely which framework, but how the pieces fit together.
